The AIARE Level 2 Motorized Avalanche Course is an advanced three-day training for snowmobilers and snowbikers ready to elevate their avalanche decision-making and leadership skills.
Building on AIARE Level 1 + AIARE Companion Rescue this course focuses on managing uncertainty, collecting and analyzing snowpack data, and applying the AIARE Framework to plan and lead safe backcountry trips.
Location: Leadville, CO + San Isabel National Forest
Course Length: 3-days (1 day in classroom + 2 days in the field)

The AIARE Level 2 Motorized Avalanche Course from Powder Pro Lab is an advanced, three-day training designed for riders ready to take their avalanche safety and decision-making to the next level.
As an A3 Recognized Provider and certified AIARE Motorized Provider, Powder Pro Lab delivers training that meets the American Avalanche Association’s national standards for curriculum, instructor qualifications, and risk management.
Building on the foundation of AIARE Level 1 and your experience applying the AIARE Framework, this course introduces new tools for managing uncertainty, improving group leadership, and deepening your understanding of snow, weather, and terrain.

This advanced-level course is ideal for:
Snowmobilers and snowbikers who have completed AIARE Level 1 and AIARE Companion Rescue.
Riders who frequently lead or mentor groups in avalanche terrain.
Backcountry professionals, guides, and instructors pursuing A3 Pro Program prerequisites.
Participants should be comfortable operating their snowmobile in variable terrain and weather conditions.

Communicate and submit professional-quality field observations to forecast centers.

This course is for riders who have completed AIARE Level 1 and Companion Rescue and are ready to lead groups or pursue professional avalanche training.

We blend classroom learning with sled-accessed fieldwork, giving you practical experience that translates directly to your own riding terrain.

You’ll learn advanced snowpack observation techniques, field weather data collection, stability testing, and structured group leadership. You’ll also practice submitting professional-quality observations to the Colorado Avalanche Information Center (CAIC) or other forecast centers.

AIARE Level 2 is the final step in the Recreational Avalanche Education progression before entering A3’s Professional Program or advanced guiding certifications.
